Ready to push past your edge in a picture-postcard setting?

Rooftop yoga is going mainstream as more urban dwellings and hotels are offering up their building tops for yogis to perch and practice atop.

Take the Z NYC Hotel in Long Island City, Queens. This season is the second summer that the boutique,100-room property has offered...
'Sunset Rooftop Yoga Series' to its guests and neighboring community at large.
“We wanted to offer our clients, many of whom are international business travelers, something unique to do on the road. Everyone wants to workout and exercise. The view of the Manhattan skyline is incredible. It’s a great destination,” says Lisa Gneo, director of sales and marketing for the privately-owned lodging.
Offered twice monthly on Mondays, the hour-long, mixed-level Vinyasa-flow style sessions are followed by light, healthy bites, wine and Skinny Margarita cocktails, says Gneo. Reservations are recommended as the space comfortably holds fifty-five people.

Yoga instructor, Dina Ivas says teaching from a higher plane creates a unique experience for practitioners.
“There is a special energy teaching yoga outdoors. It’s more peaceful, more serene than being in a studio space. As a teacher, it’s a treat to be on a beautiful rooftop like the Z NYC Hotel roof. It literally elevates the experience for all. I find the view of the city skyline inspires stability in balance poses and strength. And there’s nothing more relaxing than savasana timed perfectly to the setting sun,” says Ivas.
Beyond the spectacular setting, “It’s great for networking, staying and making new friends,” says Gneo.
