Big gypsy style for little yogis! Trendsetting yogipreneur adds kids sizes

Hold off on the umpteenth pair of leggings. For a stylish, comfy alternative, consider Buddha Pants, a successful line of yoga harem pants, which added kids sizes late last year.

“Harem pants give you a sense of flow,” says founder, Rachel Raab of Fort Lauderdale.  “We target yogis and teenagers to yoga moms. Travelers and hikers love them too, ‘cause they’re lightweight and pack easily.”
In fact, they fit in to a pocket and come in fun colors and styles ranging from Pink Zag to Red Aztec and Blue Zebra.
Raab, a dedicated yogi who practices four to five times a week, used to own and operate her own...
print shop, and promised herself she’d keep her next venture simple.

While her company just manufactures pants at this time, consumer interest in yoga is exploding and the business is now a full-time endeavor for this entrepreneur, who does all of her own customer service and contracts others for shipping, graphics and show sales. “It’s a ton of work,” says Raab.

With some brick and mortar retailers carrying her product, still “Eighty-percent of our sales are online and twenty-percent come from shows,” says Raab. “We ship worldwide and have distribution in Switzerland.”
Social media is a key part of brand marketing, says Raab.
“We love our Instagram audience. They are very active. We love seeing images customers post in Buddha pants. We try to post five times a week,” says Raab.
To those hoping to start a business of their own, “Follow your heart,” says Raab. “There are a lot of people trying to make the same thing – like leggings. It’s a tough industry, but if you can do something original, work hard and strong.”
